Disney worked with the communist government of Xinjiang province, filming near a concentration camp at which the state-backed genocide of Muslim minorities is taking place, including the forced sterilization of women. Every dollar this movie earned is blood money. The star of the film, Yifei Liu, voiced support for the brutal crackdown on pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong, so her opinion isn't worth much.
Important stuff aside, this was a boring shadow of the animated original, completely stripping away the endearing qualities and strengths of its titular character in favour of a patronizing, key-dangling Mary Sue.
