I'm reviewing the trilogy as a whole as I pretty much have the same opinion across the whole thing..... Unfortunately the attempt to draw one rather short, incredible children's book out into an epic tale of the same heft of the three enormous volumes that make up Lord of the Rings really shows in my opinion. Long and boring and full of pointless additions to the Hobbit story, it may well have been incredible if tightened up into two, or even down to one movie. But some idiot wanted 3 movies out of one 300 page book. Some action sequences are beyond the realm of any plausibility. This is a huge negative as you are drawn repeatedly away from your suspension of disbelief. There's also never enough depth to the story to get you to buy back in. I am afraid I cannot recommend this trilogy even though it does have some good and even stellar components. Smaug is wonderfully realised for example. It's not horrible, but it isn't good or great. Which is just so terribly disappointing.

Loved it. Angelina Jolie owned it as Maleficent in a clever twist retelling of the original story. As I recall, the 3D in this movie was also excellent when I watched it at the cinema.

I really liked this movie. Even I agree it is a long way from the best movie ever made, but it moves along and has fun on the way. I wish it appealed to more people so that there was a chance I'd get a sequel but c'est la vie! I'm too much of an old-school Warcraft nerd to have seen this without my rose-tinted glasses I guess.

Extended Cut Review: This trilogy is damned near perfect. My only objection is that Tom Bombadil got cut. Tom Bombadil should not have been cut. I hear Peter Jackson couldn't afford a pair of yellow boots. Its not like he's even integral to the plot, but somehow to me that whole sequence from the book was incredibly important. Maybe just to show how weird and wonderful Middle Earth was. Forget my raving, this is a wonderful trilogy, and (almost) faithful to the source material.

Its better than the credit often given it. The airliner incident is damn near iconic, ship rescue is awesome, +1 Supes needing rescuing by determined mortals, epic task only Superman could possibly pull off to close it out. Creepy stalker Superman will justifiably have turned a lot of people off this movie. That was really bad. I liked Kate Bosworth's Lois, not sure why as so many seemed not to. Sad that it got so much right, Spacey's Lex beats Hackman's OTT version and the design of the Daily Planet is to die for. If you wanted Superman with emotional moments you probably liked this. If you wanted lots of pointless punching between opponents that can't feel it, you wouldn't have found it in this movie.

The best representation of Superman on film and a top-tier Superhero movie. Also the best superhero musical theme.

In many ways its pretty bad. That's the only warning I'm giving because this B-Grade movie rocks!

Title character: Wonderful. Most other characters: Wonderful. Plot: Wonky but pretty decent. Villain: Mediocre.

The best superhero movie. Not that there aren't other superlative ones....

Just not as great as its two earlier films but it still gets a pass.
