What on earth were they thinking. They took a really talented group of people and made a mess. To say it's terrible, would not fully capture the tedium of watching it. Maybe it is a statement on US /UK chemistry. It's had it's day.

Very special film, in many ways. It covers a lot of core values of life, in a gentle way. The humour is special - perfect - British. The underlying really interesting thing is how it shows the power of the media, and how to manipulate it. Odd that Emily did it, because her husband did one with the same "theme" about saving whales, but that was a true story . Films teach us a lot, and this is one of the best for entertainment and learning.

This is a unique and entertaining film, with beyond perfect acting from all involved. Not sure if he set out to show the evil greed and divine spirit of man, and how belief is good and religion is bad, but as ever films are the only media truth we have left.

This is a unique film, really special. Submarine films are the best, everyone knows that, but funny submarine films with philosophical messages, that's really something. If I could only watch one film ever again, I'd pick this. The only bad thing about it is they didn't make a few sequels. All the characters were set up just like star trek really, it could have been great, just needed a few interesting missions . Shame.

It's a perfect balance, a sandwich. The meaty action is show in a way you can always see what is happening, something unusual and refreshing in modern films. Although it's a true story, so you might think easy to tell, it takes an artist to tell it in a way that you are by his side throughout the film. It's not made to be over the top, blow your mind entertainment, it's much deeper. It sets out to share the life of a very unique man in a thoroughly entertaining way . The rest of the sandwich, his life before and after are what make this more than just another war film. It really is genius, the really special piece being how you expect him to crack up and never be a good husband or dad again and..... Maybe watch the film.

I was trying to remember why American comics were addictive in the 70s. They were exciting and colourfull, but more importantly you needed to buy another to find out what happened. Maybe that's why people watch soaps. With a comic it's probably more to do with making money than entertaining. I don't think this is what good films should be about - not the money thing, but that would be nice, but not thinking about the next four, before you have done a half decent job making one. Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper were good sports, but the sat nav woman and Alexa would probably have been OK too and the money saved could have been used to - well pay for the kids education or something. The 70s music is great, but it was. If you want to listen to that just find "everlasting love" on utube and follow the thread. The sound quality is amazing, if you have a good system the bangs and engine noises are spectacular. So if you are planning to impress the girlfriend maybe not, but if you fancy a nap mid film, and be woken up to catch the end, having missed nothing important to the "plot", this is the film for you. The really interesting thing is how John c Reilly manages to cocoon himself and produce magic in every film he does. He might not have many lines, but as ever he is perfect. So in short, it's not terrible, but if your mates pop round at the start to see if you are going fishing, or ballroom dancing, I would get your coat.

One of the most entertaining films I ever watched, lots of times. You will recognise most of the cast :- pilot from deep inpact, cop from scent of a woman, burt Reynolds in his only good role. Interestingly Mr Simpsons, seems to be himself. Everyone, everyone, gives their best, even the kids. You can play remember what he/she was in and before you remember, another one pops up . There are so many interesting little facets to this that they just wash over you, as you smile. If you stop to think, it's incredible how there is so much entertainment away from the main "plot". The plot is not important in this film, although it's nicely dealt with and you don't end up thinking why didn't they just do that. It always does what you want it to do. How many films can you say that about. If it's not the best film you watch this year I know nothing about...... you.

I watched this for captain Kirk's dad, Thor and the cannibal in Moby dick. The other three with the fresh prince are really entertaining and all deliberately very different, to maintain the enjoyment, like some (not all) bond films. They realised four is a challenge with the new star trek and shelved it. They went ahead with this, with a great cast (the women do a good job) sadly Chris and Liam might as well have been scooby and shaggy. The problem is just as with the later transformer films, it's got lovely special effects but the story is not new and interesting enough to be entertaining. Something most film makers miss these days.

This is a lovely film, entertaining from start to finish, simple and complex with an amazingly funny script. You imagine Hugh Grant is naturally dry and sarcastic, and maybe he is, but almost every one of his lines has something. This is not a blockbuster or classic clever arty film, but if Lady ga ga and what's his face had re made this instead of a star is born it could have been "awesome"

Having used the same title I imagine he was tied to the plot, but it's a shame he didn't just make a film. The bit when he calls her on stage is very special one of those tingle all over moments that we watch films for. Once that's over you can't help thinking that was the climax scene, the end, how can he keep that up for 90 mins. Sure enough he can't and the rest is like watching those daft lord of the rings things where the challenge is to stay awawake
