The entire show is about haves and have not. Who deserves power and who has power and how is power used and abused. That being said it is not clinical in the least. Examples drawn form the real world and writ large with Marvel's classic action and pacing. Television characterization and Movie level FX in one package. It is not a mystery per se rather a road movie, buddy cop, even more lethal Leathal Weapon maybe Leathal Weapons. This show is evidence Marvel has stories to tell with all of it's characters and no doubt the shared universe will see ripple effects from what is done here.
Is it possible Isaiah Bradley could be sent to Wakanda? Help remake the powers of the Black Panther or resurrect Killmomger. Yes all possibilities are on the table until the very end and after. Marvel has a unique structure that allows endless speculation and constant "What if" scenarios. Back to what is on screen acting of superior caliber Mackie is a man we come to know and a good man. His reasons for giving up the Shield will be central to him taking the mantle of Captain America. I love how they are dealing with the meta-textual aspects of the show within the show and revealing themes and arguments through the characters. Demo is a layered villain and the best of Marvel's villain have a purpose and point you can see maybe even agree with on some leave and then they take it to far. The same can be said for the group known as the Flag smashers in particular their leader who make some questionably moral choices right after we are inclined to identify with her cause. The roles reverse in this episode heroes and villains both muddied, bloodied and operating in shades of gray that signal they are all lost and looking for a hero or something to look up tooto either become heroes themselves.
Aren't we all. The directionless direction may seem like a stumble but the moral ambiguity adds to the tension and the possibility that anything can happen. It's a superhero thriller and on its way to classic status. Will be here for every minute and the very end of the credits.
