Though hard to watch as 'entertainment' or to unwind with after a busy day...the reality of what was being addressed was raw and brave and gripping and yet awful. This stuff must be addressed, bought into the light to be changed. The series made the complexity and reality of life in teensville being more than adults have to face with more life-experience. The tension between authorities put in place to help young people actually becoming toxic and dangerous was so powerfully portrayed. I was grateful for the potency of the show and the layers of interconnection and yet children trying to do what they understood was right and yet they had nowhere to turn to get a compass. And if they did whose compass would be accurate to keep them from trauma and pain. So much was so distorted and shaped by pain and loss and trauma and abuse from generational infiltration to this generations and in the mix even those void of these 'pains' experience them anyway in the melting pot of the relationships and shared cultural experience and power restraints. I love/hated this show but it was so needed. I'm glad I hung in and saw it through. Sometimes breaking down at the cruelty, injustice and misuse of everything!
