Easily the best of its time in war movies. It exceeded Star Blazers, and while Voltron directly competed with it at the time, No one would argue that Voltron exceeded it, though both became iconic. this was my first exposure to anime and had it not existed I doubt I would have ever gravitated to anime. When the imagination is fertile, a series came along that changed everything for me! That show was Robotech and while many shows look better now, so what? Context is King. It was King.
