This was my favorite game growing up. The puzzles scratch just the right itch. I love how the game unfolds like an irreverent mix of a mario and metroid game. with platforming challenges that lead to items that in turn change the gameworld, and wario's abilities. Wario cannot die in the main game so enemy attacks can "power" him up in weird ways. The bosses are all weird and memorable. The music is not great but It is unforgettable. Some people have criticized the game for its punishing backtracking. since Wario cannot die the penalty for failing to do something is having to redo it until completed. While have to redo a long section is tedious (the owl mazes spring to mind) the rest of the game is strong enough to cover for its weak parts.
