Well... I’m going to be plain honest on this one. As a kid, I totally enjoyed FIFA gameplays because they were uniquely technical. And so I neglected PES, branding it “too easy” and embraced my new found love, FIFA. Back then, EA made you in full charge of your players, making them obey every single command you gave. But it’s so unfortunate now that the new generation editions that were created to modify the few mistakes of the old generation have rather decimated our control over the players; and now they just do whatever they want like stubborn teenagers. I mean, back then, when you played against an amateur, you were always sure to win. But these new editions, FIFA 19 and 20 have been excessively and ridiculously enhanced such that a blatant amateur could defeat a pro by means of frustration. How’s this even possible? You may wonder. Simply by consistently tapping the “O” + “R2” buttons, a learner could frustrate your tactics and score plenty of goals. Defending is extremely difficult and the finesse shot modifier buttons, “R1+O” is utterly useless. Back in the glory days of FIFA, the essence of playing a left footed player on the right wing was to “cut in” and shoot, utilizing the finesse shot modifier. But nowadays, doing this would send your shot wide away to the corner flag, conceeding a throw-in in favor of your opponent. I guess the solution now is to play a left footer from the left wing and totally forget about the finesse shot modifier combo, “R1+O” which makes absolutely no sense. Why include it when it serves no purpose? We’d all love for EA to go back to the classical gameplay, where the wingers were of much more use than dashing down the flanks to provide an aimless cross. We’d all love for EA sports to not concentrate their whole budget, time, energy and attention on graphics but to at least revert back to the pleasurable gameplay. And one more thing, EA: PLEASE UPDATE MESSI’S face. I mean for God’s sake, if you’re gonna repeat an avatar’s face for 3 consecutive years, you could at least do that with the “not so popular” players and not with the best players in the world. Messi’s face has been the same since FIFA 18. And not just him, Ronaldo too. I’m not so bothered about Ronaldo’s cause there’s just been few changes in his look in real life but you’ve gotta update Messi. De Jong too needs an update. That blonde avatar in a Barca shirt bearing the same name is an impostor if you ask me. And Griezmann’s hair needs an update too. Suárez has had this face since when, FIFA 15? and Jordi Alba needs fuller beards and lesser hair. And I think Neymar too needs a little more beard. These names are only a few, there are many more I won’t list here. I really hope EA gets to see this, I miss my favorite game.
