I really don’t know where to start. This is one of the greatest books I have ever read. It was hard to put down - I could happily have read it in a single sitting. A tale of 12 girls/women/others all connected in some way. Their sometimes ordinary, sometimes extraordinary lives fascinate at every turn. Beautifully written in a slightly disjointed staccato style interspersed with more traditional prose. I felt I wanted to go back and re-read chapters to make sure I didn’t miss any important details or connections. Covers an enormous range of intersectional themes and an equally large span of time. A truly wonderful piece of literature fully deserving of its prizes.
