I am blown away by the amount of five star reviews on Google. Turns out that trusting them and giving this movie a chance was a grave error. It started out strong, ingeniously using footage from a ghost huntin' tv show to get some genuine laughs. I think that was the best part of the movie, the tv show members poking fun at the supernatural. Especially the 'medium,' Houston. When they let the tech guy Matt go upstairs *alone* after experiencing some paranormal activity I started loosing interest. And of course after that they split up, despite Sasha's legitimate protests. So the scares are kicked off by characters' poor decisions. Not unlike most horror films out there. 'Course the film drags on for at least 20 minutes before getting to the actual spooks. Most of the characters only seem to know a few select words as they repeat them incessantly, as well, which does not help. The actual 'scares' are laughable: stuff moving on its own, a big mouth dude hangin' on the ceiling like Spider-man, an explosion that blows a dude across the room, and another big mouth creature making the sound of a lion roaring. What scares me most are the glowing reviews gushing about how great this film is. Therein lies the true horror.
