Did Lynch's Dude just elevate several notches? Yes, it did. In a big way. The pacing of this film was absurd. Harkonnen are hurried off Dune only to have them almost immediately re-appear. And to the complete surprise of House Atreides? This Paul should be looking to break ties with such a pathetic, blundering, incompetent House. Embarrassing. And mom's never-ending breakdowns? Run, Paul. Just run off into the desert and keep running. This book just simply isn't suited for a condensed presentation. Not even if its two or three 3-hour productions. How many attempts at this does it take to make that eminently clear?
