I have read many posts about how disappointing the ending of season 1 was. Some have called it "stupid" or "infuriating." I, on the other hand, thought it made complete sense and was fulfilling. Oliver's fate was both surprising and believable, though not to the liking of people who apparently wanted some sex ring outcome. The final scene with Tony tied a perfect bow on the story--as ultimately it was about a determined father who would never be able to let go without seeing his son's body, no matter what the evidence. While Emily could reluctantly let go in her remarriage, accepting that Ollie would always be there in her thoughts and heart, Tony was not able to move on, and was obviously ready to follow any semblance of a lead to the ends of the earth.
