Saw it today in its 3D atmos form. It is a classic movie. This film will go down in the history of film industry in the same row as Mughal e Azam, Bahubali Both, Mahal and others.
The cinematography and the interior decor -no match from the recent films can be made excepting Bahubali. The computer works were flawless. The scenes were each a cut above others. Food choice of cast. They just fit in. Ghumar song was better than the others. The disjointed feeling from one scene to another sometimes may make one feel a bit confused, but we must remember that in this film there were more than 300 cuts by Censor Board. So the disjointed feeling
First of all, Deepika Padukone. This movie raised her to an unbelievable level where at present no mere actress can compete. Her first scene made her look almost ethereal. After her marriage she looked magnificent. Her poise, her grace, her dignity - they enhance her beauty to an unbelievable level. However, in the last scene, I did not like her ghunghat falling down and she walking down bareheaded towards the pyre. The modern cut of her hair together with bleached dye made her look like a modern girl and not the Queen. For some reason the lahenga she was wearing in the initial portion of the last scene was changed later on, ruining the continuity.
Shahid Kapoor. Terrific. Have always known that the boy had talent, and he effectively showed it. In fact, in his scenes with Ranveer Singh, he surpassed the latter with his quiet and dignified manner. If you see this film, you will forget the film like “RRajkumar”. That he has worked hard to bring noble-like postures, attitudes, poise and looks is evident in every scene. You tend to forget his real identity, and therein lies his success. I bow down to him for his immense talent. One problem, though. His height, nsolveand his face. Wearing those heavy costumes and standing at the head of the staircase, he looked like a large puppet. If only he could make himself taller! And his face is too young. He even looked younger than Deepika. In order to cover his young looks, beards were put on his young face, but it helped him little. Apart from that, he is superb. He has done extensive workshops on swordsmanship, archery, graceful novel-like postures, voice modulation and they paid him off well. Won’t be surprised if he wins prestigious awards for this role, if there is no partiality.
Ranveer Singh. Excellent. The role suited him perfectly. He did what was expected of him, and more. His fights, his ruthlessness, reminds of BaziRao Mastani, but his cruelty, his lust and his nefariousness added to it. He dominates the entire film. You cannot forget him easily - those cruel kohl-rimmed eyes would haunt you.
The supporting cast was equally great. Jim Sabhr and Aditi Rao hydari - individually a class above others. Aditi looked soft and vulnerable, but at the same time her dignity and her fearlessness as she looked at Ranveer Singh in the eye -very impressive. What can one say about Jim Sabjr, who has already won so many awards at such an young age? Raza Murad looked appropriate as Jalaluddin Khilji, even the maids and the courtiers and army personnel of Chittor -they looked very appropriate.
