A terrific plot, and great cast of characters, but I felt the script was far too sketchy and often lacked Julian Fellowes’ usual subtlety.
The final episode for example, was a rip-roaring grand finale, but sloppily written (sorry Julian Fellowes), and left me feeling cheated. It had far too much crammed into it and felt as if there were meant to be at least 8 episodes, and the writer had been compelled to fit everything into 6. All those delicate moving moments that Julian Fellowes is usually so good at showing were sadly missing. In my opinion omitting such key moments is a mortal sin!
