There are many many flaws with this movie but there is one bad decision that reigns over all. Giving Mulan magic powers (chi) defeats the entire moral of the story. Without even mentioning the witch character's flaws within the movie, giving people powers has its own implications on a story. Implications that this movie did not need but i guess was used as an easy way to progress the story. Chi pushes the story in key moments where good writing should have been used instead. Mulan was once a member of the populace who used her brain and cunning to achieve her goals while placing herself in harms way and risk, now her goals are bestowed uopn her and I have a hard time thinking ANY of the other characters could oppose her since she has chi. And the one that could (the witch) wasnt even her opponent at the end of the day. Im all for different takes on old stories. They just have to be good. And if youre gonna add something so critical such as chi to the story, then Mulans enemies need to have it as well. Her real enemies. If the whole oposing army had chi. this woulda been a better story. If BOTH armies had chi it would have been even better. Why waste our time and why waste your money on a sub par film Disney. Not worth a purchase. I'd actually give this rating a zero star if I could only because I know they have the capability to make something great, they just dont and I'm sick of it.
