This is a gritty look at life when you are struggling to make some money, about a woman who is tough as nails. Beautiful performance by Aubrey Plaza.

This is a terrific, serious, hopeful movie. Can the deeply ingrained racial problems in this country ever be solved or even just improve? It is hard to say. But somehow, in 1970's North Carolina as this movie portrays, a klansman and an African American activist became friends and worked to enable school integration. It was a miracle and as amazing today as it was then. We need some miracles just about now. BTW, the cast was terrific. Many of the actors were not known to me as big name stars: they gave stellar performances..
