This series tries really hard to say something about the causes of adolescent violence but ends up completely muddled. What's the focus? Learning toxic masculine behavior from the internet? Or does it blame the girl for bullying him and CALLING him an incel, so the problem is largely THAT aspect of social media? Or is the problem primarily the father's unresolved issues with his temper and his own violent upbringing? There's no clear line of analysis or causation. If anything, it comes off blaming the victim more than it should. And the pacing is lugubrious, plus, as many have pointed out, there are plenty of holes in the script regarding police procedure and threads that are dropped (even the psychology of the killer is muddled; the actual behavior and psychology of the victim are pretty much ignored). All in all, a muddle from which I'd hoped more.

Depends? Really?! This is the level this pastiche sinks to. It might have been tolerable if it decided either to be completely comic and slapstick, or to take some of the complex issues in higher ed seriously. It does neither and does gross injustice to both English faculty and their students, who most certainly are not this stupid and triggered (well, mostly, anyway).
