Stephen Pinker's earlier book, The Better Angels of Our Nature, was, warts and all, brilliant.
Stephen Pinker's Enlightenment Now is a parody of his earlier work. It is an arrogant, smug, turgid, tiring argument for the fundamental principles of the enlightenment as, Pinker seemingly believes, only he can understand them; delivered with all the nuance and subtlety of a jackhammer.
