Yes this show is enjoyable as long as you turn your brain off: You will find at least 70% of times Merlin forgets he either knows magic or a badass dragon. And he wouldn’t have any ways to expose a traitor when he has all the chances in the world as Prince/King Arthur’s closet servant and friend.
But of course it would be unfair to say Merlin is the only one to blame: Arthur and those royal snubs are definitely woefully ignorant of any sense of danger:
1. Arthur would let a girl lead his way when she just claimed she got lost.
2. The royal household would let someone with a burglary background become a prince’s servant right away w/o so much as to even check his background in the slightest.
3. Everyone is so ready to receive a stranger’s (enchanted) gift when they know so well they live at a time where items are being enchanted all the time!
... and so many incredible follies, making you doubt if Merlin and his beloved King are merely 10 years old trying to run a country.
Anyway this is a learning experience for me, too. Now I know once you put 2 hot young guys as leads of a show, romantically teasing each others all the time, accompanied by a gr8 cast all know well how to act funnily, plus a decent ost music, ... a girl like me can learn to ignore all the logical errors of a show and fan-girling through all 5 seasons in a blink of an eye ;-)
Long live the great British drama empire!
They shameless know too well how to catch their target audience’s (fan-girls’) heart w/o so much as break a sweat on polishing their story.
What an effective way to run a TV business. Thx for teaching me so much ~~
