So I’ve read many of the poor reviews on here, and it’s clearly political for many of the ones who have it a 1 star rating. They complain about the mask wearing, covid, “forcing liberal beliefs”, representation, inclusion. Daniel Craigs character is that of a gay man, and the second leading character is a black female. So you could see why certain people are giving this movie a 1 star review. As for the reason why covid and masking is part of the movie, and why it was in the movie at all, is because the Mona Lisa Painting was on loan from CLOSED Louvre, due to the lockdowns. A necessary part of the plot. If you are one of those people who are anti vax, anti mask, anti LGBTQ, and representation, simply don’t watch it. For the sane crowd, here is what I thought of the movie.
Sure, the beginning is a little slow. It’s called building up the story. It introduces you to the characters and how they all fit in with each other. At one point, you honestly have no idea what’s happening, like a who is liking who situation. But right when it goes back in time, the confusion is revealed, quite brilliantly.
I thought the acting was spot on. Since I’m not an American, I was not offended by Daniel Craig’s accent. The rest of the world really don’t pay attention to the southern accent.
I strongly recommend this movie, but do watch it when you’re not on your phone. Watch every moment. I’m actually going to watch it a second time to see if I can pick up on the subtle situations that Daniel Craig’s character reveals. Easily comparable to the original! There’s a reason why critic scores rank this movie so high, stuck with their reviews.
