Russian Doll on Netflix takes the right amount of time to be perplexing but when the clues start coming after Episode 3 it crackles and sparkles. Wicked sense of intelligent humor. Episodes 6-8 are a wild emotional ride. Amy Pohler was one of the EPs. A quality, moving series.
NY Comics of a certain age will appreciate the NY of the series. Filmed in lower Manhattan. Many might see inadvertent echoes of the late comic Abby Stein in the main character.
Well written and nicely realized, many of us would rather inhabit that world for one repeat night than the nightmare loop in which we are caught.
This is a must see. I know what genre you will quickly think it evokes, but that feeling will disappear as the story swirls around you while considering modern art and literature, philosophy and Jewish mysticism and doesn’t let go until the satisfying resolution. Plus it’s got a parade.
