It could virtually not be any less true to history. It propagates and reinforces baseless myths and stereotypes about (this particular chapter in) human history while also superimposing a bizarre modern morality on the 15th century made possible only for its blatant disregard of the historical facts. I despise this film with every fiber of my being. On the bright side, the costume design could have been worse and some of the acting was passable.
