I have never written a review of any movie before and don't have a plan to do so in future unless I watch something as touching and connecting as this movie.
I didn't have any intention of watching this in the first place. But a friend just mentioned to me in the evening that 12th Fail is a good movie. I thought it would be like any other things he mentions on daily basis. And even when I started watching it, I had in my mind that I'll just watch a few first minutes and I'll skip it and watch something else. Who knew what awaited me!
As I started, I couldn't leave the screen. I don't know but it started giving me nostalgic feelings. I kept questioning myself for the entire movie that how can a movie be so good and I haven't known about it. It's because I see huge advertisement campaigns and trailers of huge budgeted movies here and there or so many people talking about it or some movie with some great star cast. It had nothing of that ; not a superstar cast, no ads on my timeline and none of my movie buff friends talking about it.
There are very few movies I've cried to and this was one of them coz the actors have done superb justice to what they were made to do. there wasn't any "masala" music or scenes... just purity of the story, feelings and bgm & some poetry. this movie connects to anyone who has or is struggling in their life to achieve something big.
It was when I watched the whole movie did I know that it was a Vidhu Vinod Chopra film. That was the answer to my unknown feelings about how wonderful and captivating this movie was. Only a "3 Idiots" and "Munna Bhai MBBS" director could do the magic of turning a simple thing into a gem like this.
I would recommend this to everyone who hasn't watched it.
