I understand they wanted to make it into their own thing, every adaptation has some sprinkles of their own content, but god, if they took off the name Winx and made an entirely different series, I would be more down on that. My favorite part of the original cartoon series was how they merged this amazing magical world with this grand and futuristic technology and how the world actually integrates that into the story, and of course from that, I bet you can guess which one of the mains hold my heart. (Tecna will always have a place in my inner child heart).
And with this series they just, ripped that out. No awe-inducing magical tech world, one of the main girls are gone. It's like Riverdale but in a different skin. If you like the vibes Riverdale gives, then I do recommend this series to you, but for the others who feel potentially screwed over? Using a nostalgia-inducing series and scratching out the important parts of it just kills it. If you wanted a series based on it, make a spin-off, make your own story. Why do people feel the need to touch the old series or cartoons and turn them into a somewhat "edgy" live action adaptations?
The graphics, were somewhat the only thing I somewhat enjoyed. But everything was so dark it was quite hard to see (literally). I know that the audience has grown into (probably) adults, but just because we're adults it doesn't mean it always has to be a dark tv series, rude edgy remarks from characters, and other quite irking topics. You're catering a whole different stereotype of our generation. Why can't we have a series with a heart in it, less dark and more realistic. You want life-or-death situations, and you don't need the "edgy" aura to make an impact.
Other series have showcased life-or-death situations, and heartbreaking moments, and those series don't have the amount of "edge" this series and other recent live action remakes or adaptations have.
