Nobody is the hero. Not even of their own stories. Each and every character in this story and the last have done awful things. Whether it was for survival, for their loved ones, or otherwise. People seem to forget that when reviewing this game and its story. They're overtly attached to Joel and young Ellie, completely neglecting the fact that people change drastically and even become complacent in their old age... Like Joel.
This is not the Last of us Part 1 - episode 2. If this game was just another continuation of a Joel and Ellie adventure they would be panning it for being repetitive and uninteresting. Instead, you get a deeply complex story from multiple perspectives that follows love, hate, death, revenge, and most of all, forgiveness.
The story is not an easy one to watch unfold, but it is most certainly worth it.
Do not listen to the negativity and the people begging to having a repeat of the last game. This is its own story, and its a good one.
The gameplay is phenomenal and worth it just for the 20+ hours of visceral and intense fun. Decide for yourself!
