Denise Spears

The author is capable of writing beautifully, as evidenced in the first few chapters. I enjoyed the parents’ realization that they were racist. The rest of the book really went off the rails. The author hadn’t thought through what the conflict was about. The parents who were obviously caring, did not respond immediately to the crisis their son faced. The daughter behaved irrationally, facing the family’s crisis. This book was very disappointing.
