I do not think Disney considered the fact that in 1909 there were state laws that prohibit interracial marriages.
I was also dismayed that Disney did not stick to the original casting. My kids and I adored the animated movie and hoped to see who Disney cast as Aunt Sarah in the live action. I am not racist, but the animated movie had a more 1900s victorian era feel around it.
