Ranjith hits us with a raging, engaging and a brilliant film, which would linger as one among the best tamil movies forever. Excellent casting, that will be remembered for sometime now. Everyone lived as the character, that takes you into the movie, let’s you forget your present and makes you live among them. Totally captivating first half, keeping us at the edge of the seats. Amazing screenplay portraying fall of Kabilan when Rangan is in prison. Beedi thatha segment is one the best ever motivational scene in modern day cinemas, with loads of philosophy and scintillating lyrics of Arivu. Arya’s and Ranjith’s best movie in their career so far. The film potrays the research and work behind in bringing back the 70s. Top notch work from cinematographer, editor, art director and musician. It’s a complete bunch of excellency. Kalaiarasan, John Vijay, Pasupathy and each and every single performers are a treat to watch. Boxing scenes are so captivating with Hollywood level reality. Haven’t seen such a great film in Tamil industry in a while.

Film lacks a clear story line, runs on a shaky screenplay, comedy is dry but the movie carries a message though. Film fails to convince the audience with its message. Extraordinary nature shots are useless if we don’t put enough energy or work in story telling. Cinematography in second half was excellent. Pradeep’s music was soothing, but his songs suffered lacking strong lyrics. Director needs to do better homework before jumping into the schedule.

Clarity, Beautiful, Neat, Gripping and Focused are some of the few words that came into my mind while thinking about writing a review for this Movie. The movie's Silence is absolutely deafening! We can think of many directors who could make scripts like Magamuni with lots of gore, violence and terror. But Santhakumar has his special way of movie making which is astounding. In every frame, he is trying to potray clearly what he has on his mind. At right times, he conveys his social messages on various concepts like Casteism, God, Valour, Yoga, Politics, Education. Casting, Screenplay, Dialogues, Cinematography and Editing are at top-notch. Soothing background music and brilliant direction. Everyone does their job well and Arya excels in his performance.
