Fabulous version of the stage show. It has a few issues: the singing isn’t all that it could be, the CGI although mind-boggling does have the occasional wobble and I’m not a big fan of Jason Derulo’s “Rumtumtugger” but overall it is absolutely as spell-binding as the stage show. Fantastic dancing. Great visualisations. If you haven’t seen the stage show, then yes, you may find it disorienting, disconnected and maybe hard to follow - but don’t blame the movie for being true to its roots, there is a valiant attempt to lead newcomers through the story (such that there is a story) so keep an open mind. Ignore the press feeding frenzy and simply enjoy and wonder.
