She comes across as the ultimate narcissist, and doesn’t seem to appreciate the effect her fantasies have on her children. Always asking her son, did anyone say anything today, always checking her social media, and doing interviews and can’t even answer a simple question! For all of her supposed interest in black history, she is very dismissive of actual African American women when they talk about their lived experiences. She has serious mental health issues and I do fear for her children.

As someone who grew up on Elvis playing on the radio, then tv, then his films, I was reluctant to watch this film because I’m not a fan of Baz. I actually groaned out loud when I heard that he was making this film. I still love Strictly Ballroom but haven’t enjoyed any of his films since. He can’t seem to help himself with mucking around with a good story and turning them into fantasies. And this was no different, with animation, then rap music ffs! However Austin Butler was fantastic, as were most of the cast. Elvis was one of the best voices of all time, and I really don’t feel that this film did him the justice he so rightly deserves.

The Fabelmans is lovely, the actors are just wonderful, but SS needed to edit this film a little. It was far too long, some scenes just went on for far too long, it made me edgy. And why on earth do directors always get eye colour wrong ? I know it sounds pedantic but I notice small details, and the younger Sammy had bright blue eyes, and the teenage Sammy had dark brown like his parents. Do they think we won’t notice ? These types of mistakes are common by lots of directors but I can’t figure out why though. Can anyone enlighten me ?

Very enlightening on some levels, as well as disturbing. I find it very interesting that the majority of the killers had childhoods full of abuse, neglect, drugs/alcohol, or abandonment. And that most became addicted. And I am not excusing their acts, just that it provides insights into basically how most killers are made. I particularly feel for Victoria Smith and her wonderful sister Betty, and hope that Victoria can be paroled sooner rather than later. I would hope that this series can show how if we treat children poorly, there can be only poor outcomes.

I watched it through but have to say that some aspects were very disturbing to me. The thought of being a single older woman paying to live somewhere where a predatory creep is roaming the place illegally, sunbaking by the pool, showering in the pool shower. Wow ! Where’s the security for these women ? And Anne and Reggie? Well what the hell can you say about them ? I have rarely seen that level of denial/enabling in a person. He is obviously mentally ill, but she thinks that she should respect his choices because she cannot be bothered to deal with him. And despite what she says about her vows, she looks like a prisoner on death row, that is she isn’t getting out of this alive ! And I liked Barbara and hoped that she got out of that place. Very troubling that a comment was made that you never really had to leave the place for anything
