Maaan… I really wanted this series to work out because I love the books. I have read and listened to the books multiple times and this show pales in comparison. The actors are great, but the writing/production isn’t the best. My three biggest issues are the pace of the storyline, the removal of essential plot points, and changes to the overall story. My fiancé watched the show and has never read the books and she was confused about why or how the magic system worked most of the time etc etc. the story just picks up and never slows down, but they have time to slow down the story to show the wisdom ritual that was never explained in the books and other non-essential screen time that took away from the original plot. They ruined Perrin and Mat’s characters in the show, by completely changing how they develop when they are some of the best in the books. They completely removed Caemlyn but followed the same sequence of events in TarValon? Why???? They explain the Dragon can be a male or female which completely destroys the male/female balance of the wheel. They show untrained female channelers that pretty much bring people back from the dead and destroy entire armies of thousands? They did a lot… long story short, read the books skip the show. My brother is a long time fan of the books as well and didn’t make it through the first episode, it’s that bad. I’m still holding out, that’s why there are two stars instead of one. I am hoping season 2 delivers!
