This review will be mixed. Scenery was gorgeous but the story line...meh. Also, it was distracting and cringe-worthy to see japanese people talking to other japanese people in broken english (even when no AMerican was around). Not enough real MA fighting like in Part 1. Cameo by B.D. Wong! He's so cute. Miyagi continues to be the japanese dad most of us never had. All in all, a nice adventure to somewhere most of us will never go, but if your looking for a substantive MA follow-up to part 1, you'll be underwhelmed if not disappointed.

First rate B movie to close out the 90's. One of my absolute favorites. The writing is good albeit awkward at times. The storyline is essentially sensical (though at first glance the demographic choices may seem unlikely). When do you get to see a predominately black and asian cast? Or a blasian romance for that matter (with an asian male lead to boot)? The fighting scenes are very good AND hilariously silly. Fully of cherished black and asian actors. Soundtrack is varied, but features top Aaliyah tracks. All in all, a fun ride that is certainly worth a movie night with a girlfriend or fellow martial arts film fans. I personally watch it every year with Chinese food and chicken wings (wink). Biggest cringe moment is Jet Li's dancing with Aaliyah at the club. He looked terrible and creepy. I can't believe they didn't do more takes. Oh well. A must see when you have time.
