An erudite and courageous argument is put forward by Neil Thomas in this excellent book that concludes that the case for design outweighs the case for natural selection. This book is all the more important due to the fact that the author is an academic in the humanities rather than the sciences (and so doesn't have a professional 'axe to grind'), and he states that he has been a life-long agnostic and humanist (so doesn't have a religious 'axe to grind'). His conclusion is reached, however, on the grounds of being a rationalist who follows the evidence where it leads. Highly recommended.

We saw the original stage version in London when it first came out and have loved this musical ever since. We equally loved this new film version and feel it really does justice to the musical. Some clever new twists in the film help the storyline and the possibilities available to film that can't be done on stage are used very well. Of course, it's nearly all singing with just a little dialogue, but the diction in the songs is really clear and easy to follow. If you don't already know the musical, don't expect a complicated plot – it's mainly about the brilliant music of Andrew Lloyd-Webber, the brilliant poetry of T.S. Elliot and the amazing dancing. This film version takes these to a new level.
