*Disclaimer* I have never seen the original, so I can’t compare the two. My opinion is based on this films own merit, not as a remake.
While it’s not bone chillingly scary, it’s a very decent movie. Lots of horror movie cliches of course, but where it stands out is the solid acting. Good acting is a rare thing in a horror film, especially one that’s of the “gore” variety. Geoffrey Rush is particularly great! I enjoyed the subtle comic relief from Chris Kattan too. It’s a movie I usually watch every couple of years around Halloween. It may not keep you up at night, but it’s definitely worth watching!
