Mortal Kombat successfully offers some over-the-top violence, interesting character choices and acting, and (mostly) well-crafted costume designs; however, it largely and sadly squanders the majority of its cast through poor realization, massive downgrading of key characters, and gutting the rich history established by the videogame franchise. In other words, the skeleton of the Mortal Kombat lore is there, but all the organs are missing.
