I enjoy the adaptation of Ryuk the most. His personality resonates with the original character. I love the anime and have seen it 3 times through. What I don't like about it is, how they portray Light within the movie. He loses his 'God complex' and is much more impressionable. BUT his character works for the overall idea of this film. I don't mind that it's different and I understand this is an American adaptation. It just isn't possible to tell the story from the anime within a 2 hour movie. You just can't compare the two bc they're sooo different. The rules of the Death Note and the relationship dynamic between Light and 'Mia' is veeerrry different. It like their roles are almost reversed. Ls character is more likeable & less prominent. L does still plays an important role to this particular storyline. You can't compare this movie to the anime and assume you're going to enjoy it. It has a completely different concept. I think the characters poprtrayed throughout the movie definitely resonate with how the movie plays out in the end. Overall it was okay. It's more based upon the relationship between Light and Mia and is made into a love story instead. For what it was I liked It. I like that Light survived in this one since he's such a different character throughout this story. I liked that Ryuk says 'you humans are so interesting' at the end.🍎 Just don't go into watching this thinking it's gonna be like the anime. Try to keep an open mind that this is a completely different story than the original Death Note.
I really wish they would have worked in the line about God's of Death liking apples somehow!. I like both the Anime is muchhh more detailed.
