Sorry to say this version Pales to other previous versions. Mostly favored by people who have never read the book, or seen the longer six hour versions. I found the performances lack luster and forgettable.

Watched again with great pleasure the 1991 film by Kenneth Branagh, "DEAD AGAIN". It stars Branagh and his then-wife Emma Thompson in an unusual Murder mystery, that is the closest anyone has come in recreating a pure Alfred Hitchock Film since the director passed.
The film takes place in 1991, but most of the film also takes place in 1948 as we are drawn into an old murder mystery with aspects of Reincarnation, and Karmic Revenge involving its two lead characters both playing two parts
I can not stress how much I love this film, and the feeling Hitchcock came back to direct one more film. The Music by‎ Patrick Doyle and it striations that set your heart on edge sounds like Bernard Herman was also there to help him.
