I AM NOT FORGIVING THEM FOR REMOVING MUSHU'S CHARACTER AND ADDING A STUPID PHEONIX. The movie was nice however I do wish they added the musical sequences and made the entertaining side characters more relevant as in the original movie they were a very important part. We didn't get hunk man SHANG either and there was little to no interaction of Mulan with the other warriors which was a very fun part of the original. Another thing that is disliked by me is the insane lack of character development, in the original we can see that Mulan is not a very great soldier in the beginning but over time due to some training and immense dedication she earns her place. In this remake however, that is not there and she is shown as if she's been fighting in the army her whole life. Along with that I didn't quite understand the role of the bird-woman, the whole movie revolves around a realistic plot and then there's suddenly a woman that can turn into a swamp of birds??? don't get me wrong I love a strong female villain but I didn't see it necessary to add her when she didn't hold much significance. Overall I enjoyed it, cried a little because I was reminded of the insane amount of patriarchy and sexism in this world and it felt nice to see a woman in her glory, even if it is fictional. but it did not reach the high expectations I had.
