Jessica depicted a 16n yo that you dont see or appreciate today. I loved the film very much and lived through parts of it as I experienced many things on Lake Superior including a broaching. that broaching I had left a crew of three dead tired by the time we set sail again. How this young lady went from day 198 in the Tasmanian sea (part of the Pacific ocean) to day 210 off Australia is truly amazing and should have been shown at least to respect her. Other things that could have been shown or explained: how a boat shown as Ella could be renamed Pink Lady? Crack in hull was a real threat but got missed. Food preparation and storage was sadly missed except that stupid showing of Jessica preparing a salad on day 210. Indian ocean has a record of many downed ships yet Jessica apparently sailed unharmed through this vast ocean bruising and tears were not illustrated as being there and if any repairs were made The artwork depicting that vessels rollover was a part I felt was done very well Needless to say but the young lady depicting the 16 yo determination should be admired.

I am older than the Dr. but her experiences were so true and her writings fit those. What I cant understand was the objections raised when there was already people who practised many of the respects and love for one another long before the book was printed. I am a man but I must admit all my life I have never understood men and their inability to think past their crotch. An extreme example of this would be the raping of a woman : how any man can join in such a depravity and think back to that experience with any enjoyment is beyond reckoning.I have never joined any men - for one thing I don't particularly enjoy their company when they talk about the opposite sex. I have enjoyed the company of intelligent women from the time as a boy with my mother. And this has continued through my life. The time I had with my wife - all 58 years - I shall treasure to the day I' m gone Thank you for portraying this woman and her book; I just wish younger people had the chance to read it as the learnings of disrespect begin at a very early age.

For a change van dam was surprisingly good starting out as a common man with a common wife.The illustrations of the russian guards and warden were cruel as only russians can be but if anything they were maybe a little soft as you have to make the film for a north american audience.I thought the depiction of the prisoner who was van dam's cell mate was especially good.

Dragonfly belongs to those who feel there is something out there that cannot be explained. To ridicule that is something beyond some people to even imagine. Movies are make believe to give us pleasure Let those who enjoyed this one have their dreams I particularly was interested in the aboriginals towards the end of the movie If they actually lived in that jungle - how wonderful for them!.
