Wow! I don't know where to even start with this book! It had me wanting more and more, the ending was not your typical ending and I appreciate that more. Nicole Dennis-Benn did an amazing job with bringing each character to life and even more the story. I was able to create a whole movie with this book in my head, from the use of imagery, describing characters, their personalities and their reasoning, even with using Patois for each character dialect. This book is a solid 10/10!

Amazing book with 26 different authors (majority writers of color) with 26 different writing styles. The stories range from first-generation/second-generation immigrants and children of immigrants, and shows that there is no universal experience when it comes to an immigrant experience. I was able to relate to most of the authors stories. Worthy of reading, you'll learn new things about others and about yourself in their journeys.

The Other Americans is written so beautifully and flows. I was a bit intimidated by the perspective of many characters but it flowed so well and I was left with understanding each character. Lalami wrote a masterpiece! I highly recommend reading The Other Americans!
