Michael Smith

I've read this book countless times. Some may not like the cold and sometimes sociopathic MC, but the world building and progression of this novel is superb. I say sociopathic MC, because he often puts his himself first with little care to how his actions affect others. Regardless, this novel is a must read for fans of magic, transport to another world novels, fantasy, D&D, or just tired of typical MCs.
