While War does better than many of the cheap action thrillers being pumped out by Bollywood, it's still dreadful to watch. The acting is nice, and the scenery is breathtaking, but the plot is awful. Although it keeps us from second guessing every step, viewers are easily able to understand the general direction the movie is going in. The biggest problem with War is that it comes up with increasingly ridiculous explanations in a desperate attempt to keep the laughable plot twists believable, and it falls flat in that attempt. The songs are catchy, but very badly timed. Overall, a really cringeworthy experience.
SPOILER ALERT !!!
Beine an aviation nerd, the airplane scene made me cringe. First, they create a computer generated monstrosity that seems to be a hybrid between a C-130 and an Il-76, then they expect us to believe that a tiny Cirrus Vision SF50 with a top speed of 556 km/h can catch up with a plane with a cruising speed of 800 kph. There's no such thing called wake turbulence in the scene. Debris goes flying into the engine, which immediately explodes, but the propellers keep going as if nothing happened. Hrithik jumps from the plane, and it immediately explodes, for no reason at all. Since when did a small explosive decompression at relatively low altitude start causing an entire plane to blow up spectacularly as if a bomb went off ? After the decompression occurs, they have no apparent difficulty in breathing.
I could list a hundred reasons why I hated War, but I think this is enough to show my views on the movie.
