Diablo 2 Resurrected is another wonderful example of how to do a remaster right. I say remaster, although in all reality the term remake would almost fit here. This is a game that is very similar to how the Spyro Trilogy, Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, and Halo 1 & 2 Anniversary were remade, with an entirely redone visual effort laid overtop the bones of the original (and in this case, much like the Halo Anniversary games, you can swap back and forth between the original and modern visuals, which is a huge plus in my book). The underlying mechanics and gameplay are identical to the original (as some would say, with warts and all), with a few tweaks to multiplayer made for the Ladder Seasons. I own both the PC and Switch version, and they are both beautifully done and wonderful to play. The Switch version obviously has a few graphical concessions, but when playing in handheld, you would be hard-pressed to tell the difference. This game is twenty years old now, so there are a few things that might feel counterintuitive to new players (I'm looking at you, extremely limited inventory), but this game is well worth the money as an important piece of gaming history that everyone should play at some point.
