In this paper op will argue that the reason seemingly progressive American public figures like James Cordon rely on tired recycled jokes based on misogynistic premises that simulataneosly insult asian artists and their fanbases is because if they were to give actual weight to their it would destabilize their centered position as conduits of social change and progressive discourse. Reserving moments of levity and importance for their own self centred pompous lectures to the genral public and peripheralizing diverse voices is how unfunny figures like Corden who barely pass standards of decency and grace maintain their hegemony over mediascapes. Men like Corden are instrinsically afraid to yield platforms to other voices because to do so would mean sharing of power which they cling to so desperately and so instead of taking a moment to acknowledge the incredibly imp and articulate discourse mounted by a band whose global sucess is unchallenged and their predominantly female poc fanbase Corden relies on punchlines to make mockery of events that are actually not funny at all and hold a lot of value for a lot of people. But hey some other yt people laughed along so I guess it's comedy and we all know as long as the balance of power is summarily in the hands of cishet white men all is fair in comedy :)
