I always enjoy CBS Sunday Morning . I liked the segment about Bevin Strickland RN, BSN, CPN, CCRN by Steve Hartman. You correctly called her a nurse, but you didn’t mention the most important thing about her and that is that she is in the doctorate program of nurse anesthesia at the Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia. She is a first lieutenant in the army reserve. Also the most interesting thing that could have been mentioned regarding this story is that she is preparing to be a CRNA, an advanced nurse practitioner in the field of Anesthesia.
This would have been significantly important to know since there are many CRNA’s working now during this terrible pandemic as first line providers in operating rooms, in other locations of the hospital and other healthcare facilities providing Anesthesia and emergency intubations for placing patients on ventilators and helping to manage those ventilators. There are many doctors and nurses in different specialties such as anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists that may be doing things outside of their specialties at this time of crisis to help out in addition to their regular duties. Thanks again for the story but just FYI for next time. Stay healthy and well🙏, Jim McEwan CRNA
