Very slow-paced,
Scientific inaccuracies abound, especially the main premise for the plot,
That the dad went to Neptune to escape the effects of the heliosphere [solar wind]
In search of e.t.'s
Neptune is nowhere near the end of the heliosphere.
No need to go to Neptune anyway,
Best way to look for e.t.'s is from earth
Plenty of plot conveniences/absurdities.
But hey, to each his own.
