I really wanted to love this movie. Like, really, I was looking very much forward to seeing it. The problem I experienced in watching it is that it was so slow moving and boring that I could barely stay awake. This movie seemed to go in too many directions, but didnt go the distance on any of them hard enough to keep me engaged. Now, the Candyman of today is awesome looking and terrifyingly intense, which is great! Yet, in trying to explain the history and multiple Candymen from history tying in with gentrification of today, coupled with "Say My Name," it was trying to touch on way too many points, thereby losing any message at all. The movie was so boring, I walked out an hour and 16 minutes into it. I didnt even care to see how it may end or what may happen next because things were so discombobulated, I'd rather do anything on the planet than stay in that theater trying to watch this snooze button on screen. It had such, such great potential to be an awesome horror movie. This was a case of when bad writers happen to great actors. 🤷♀️
