This film was personal for me. My older brother Larry, who was wheelchair- bound because of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, attended Camp Jened in 1954 when he was 12. This film brought back a lot of heart-breaking memories of my brother’s life and how socially isolating and emotionally painful it was for him to cope in a world that excluded him. This wonderfully inspirational film portrayed what Camp Jened was modelling- a society of inclusion, acceptance and human connection.
