Okay, I played the original trilogy with Ezio and that plot so it already set the foundation for the plot of this movie. I really enjoyed it! It was a fun movie to watch and Iโve read some reviews saying it was confusing, but I followed the entire movie fairly well. I got that they chose the modern day era so they could explain the Assassinโs Creed world better, if it only focused on the assassin, it would honestly just be that. Assassinโs Creed has always shifted between modern and past timelines through the animus. If youโre confused as to why the dad killed the mom, she was the descendent of Aguilar i.e. why she had to be killed so she couldnโt be used to find the Apple of Eden. That lead to Cal being the last one in the bloodline for Aguilar.
The dad was just another assassin. They explain this when Aguilar was on a rooftop and the female assassin GIVES the necklace that Calโs mom wore to him. Science chick wanted world peace and sought the Apple to accomplish that only to find out her dad wanted the Apple to end Assassins as well. No free will and violence = no Assassins to oppose the Templar order. As far as the ones who criticize how Cal became a fighter, it was explained in the video game, you live through your ancestorโs life. Their actions are yours and you retain some of that from the link of the Animus.
8/10 cause I thoroughly enjoyed the film, fight scenes couldโve been more exciting, they kinda killed off that one dude of the last 4 in the modern world outta nowhere, pretty fun movie if you liked the games.
Also, someone really described this movie as โhumorlessโ! Haha. Same dude, I can say the same for...Titanic, Inception, Hereditary, and probably any other movie not under the โComedyโ description. Itโs an action movie for Christ sake and did you get action? Yes.
