I thought this film was heartbreaking yet beautiful at the same time. It was heartbreaking from the start seeing how the married couple was torn apart from this one tragedy that they could never have been prepared for. Losing a child is something no parent can prepare for and when it happens, it breaks you to a degree where you don’t even know how to live anymore. I am 19 years old and have no experience being a parent but I can definitely picture how it would feel and I hope I will never ever have to go through that. Back to the film, the illustration and the whole idea of the shadows and the daughter coming back and trying to comfort the parents was just brilliant and absolutely beautiful. I also absolutely love how the parents made their way back to each other by the soccer ball rolling away on its own and turning on the record player. I thought this concept was beautiful, especially when the cat is seen playing with the little girl. It made the parents know that she is there and always will be. Overall, this film was beautiful, brilliant, and heartbreaking all at once. The overall lesson people should take from this is to never take things for granted and always hold your loved ones a little closer.
